Susannah was born in 1847 in Bolton, Lancashire.  Susannah's father was Thomas Flitcroft and her mother was Mary Ann Perrin.  She had two brothers and a sister, named Benjamin, Thomas and Phoebe.  She was the third oldest of the four known children.
