Richard was born on May 17th, 1705 in St. Germans, Cornwall.1   Richard's father was William Doney and his mother was Julian Toms.  He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William, William, George, Christian, John, Stephen, Nathan, Margaret, Philippa, Mary and Ann.  He was the youngest of the twelve children.
