John Dickinson

John was born in November 1840 in Chester-Le-Street, Co. Durham.¹ John's father was John Dickinson and his mother was Phebe Bell. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Matthew, Joseph, George, Anne, Isabella and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eight children.
