Mary was born about 1860 in Westhoughton, Lancashire.1   Mary's father was Henry Coop and her mother was Ann Coop.  Her paternal grandfather was Joseph Coop and her paternal grandmother is <Unknown>.  She had three brothers and a sister, named Wright, William, Joseph and Ann.  She was the fourth oldest of the five known children.
