John was born in 1731 in Cutcombe, Somerset, England and his baptism took place there on October 10th, 1731.1   John's father was Robert Tucker and his mother was Joan Clatworthy.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Tucker and Elizabeth. He had two brothers and four sisters, named William, James, Joan, Mary, Joan and Anne.  He was the third oldest of the seven known children.
