John Charles Steer

John was born about February 1886 in Ilfracombe. Devon.¹ John's father was John Steer and his mother was Emma Catherine Brindley. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Steer and Elizabeth Cousins; his maternal grandparents were Charles Brindley and Ann McIntosh. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Thomas, Alfred, Frank, William, Ella, Lucy and Charlotte. He was the oldest of the nine children.
