Martha Rawle

Martha was born about 1816 in Allerford, Selworthy, Somerset, England.¹

Birth Notes
- In 1881 census listed as born 1819 at Wick, Glamorgan, Wales but this is probably because head of household was brought up at Wick

Martha's father was John Rawle and her mother was Joan Taylor. Her paternal grandparents were David Rawle and Sarah Liston. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Jonathan, Edward, Charles, David, Richard, Mary, Harriett and Ann. She was the second oldest of the ten children.

General Notes
- Based on census record for James Charles in 1881 where Martha b abt 1819 is described as step aunt, possibly Martha is sister of John and Isaac was regarded as John's step son.
  
  However, Martha is shown as widow in 1881, which if true, confuses matters.
