Edward was born about December 1st, 1830 in Dulverton and his baptism took place on December 25th, 1830 in Winsford Parish Church, Somerset, England.1 2  Edward's father was John Rawle and his mother was Joan Taylor.  His paternal grandparents were David Rawle and Sarah Liston. He had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Jonathan, Charles, David, Richard, Martha, Mary, Harriett and Ann.  He was the seventh oldest of the ten children.  He died about 1885.
