Ann was born about January 1828 in Dulverton, Somerset, England and her baptism took place on October 12th, 1828 in Winsford Parish Church, Somerset, England.1 2  Ann's father was John Rawle and her mother was Joan Taylor.  Her paternal grandparents were David Rawle and Sarah Liston. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Jonathan, Edward, Charles, David, Richard, Martha, Mary and Harriett.  She was the sixth oldest of the ten children.
