Ellen was born in 1873.  Ellen's father was William Sellick Parsons and her mother was Elizabeth Mary Gibbs. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, James, George, John, Albert, Mary, Alice and Sarah.  She was the seventh oldest of the nine children.
