Ethel was born about May 1889. Ethel's father was Alfred Frank Bodey and her mother was Esther REED. Her maternal grandparents were John REED and Mary Elizabeth Horwood. She had a brother and three sisters, named Alfred, Esther, Daisy and Elsie. She was the fourth oldest of the five children.
