Elizabeth was born about May 1837 in Clatworthy, Somerset, England and her baptism took place on June 4th, 1837 in Clatworthy Parish Church, Somerset.1 2  Elizabeth's father was William BAKER and her mother was Charlotte Rowe.  Her paternal grandfather was ROBERT BAKER and her paternal grandmother is Susannah Webber; her maternal grandfather is William Rowe and her maternal grandmother was Alice. She had four brothers and two sisters, named James, William, John, Charles, Mary Ann and Jane.  She was the fifth oldest of the seven children.
