Esther was born about October 1833 in Cutcombe, Somerset, England and her baptism took place on November 17th, 1833 in Cutcombe Parish Church, Somerset.1 2   Esther's father was John Tudball and her mother was Betty M. Thorne.  Her paternal grandparents were Alexander Tudball and Ann James; her maternal grandparents are <Unknown> and Ann Thorne.  She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Gregory, Alexander, William, Amos, Ann, Julia, Eliza and Ann.  She was the third oldest of the ten known children.
