William was born in 1738 in Cutcombe, Somerset, England and his baptism took place on September 6th, 1738 in Cutcombe Parish Church, Somerset.1   William's father was Robert Tucker and his mother was Joan Clatworthy.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Tucker and Elizabeth.  He had two brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Joan, Mary, Joan and Anne.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven known children.
