John was born about August 13th, 1821 in Withypool, Somerset and his baptism took place on August 13th, 1821 in St Andrew, Withypool, Somerset.1  John's father was Walter Tidball and his mother was Susanna Delft.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Tidball and Jane Dunscombe.  He had a sister named Harriet.  He was the older of the two known children.
