Mary was born about 1858 in Cutcombe, Somerset, England.1   Mary's father was James Ridler and her mother was Maria Howe.  Her paternal grandfather is John Ridler and her paternal grandmother was Peggy; her maternal grandparents were Robert Howe and Mary Norman.  She was an only child.
