William Edward's father is Charles Thomas POOLE and his mother is Corual Godwin.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas POOLE and Jane Sullivan; his maternal grandparents are Frederick George Godwin and Maria Godwin.  He had five brothers and two sisters, named Albert Charles, William Thomas, George Henry, Frederick John, Charles Francis, Beatrice Ethel and Edith Maud.
