- This seems to be the nearest birth registration but does not match abt 1816 in earlier census records and is very close to marriage registration.

Thomas' father was Thomas Newton and his mother was Elizabeth Chapple ?. His paternal grandparents were William Newton and Elizabeth NK. He had a brother and four sisters, named William, Marian, Eva, Menney and Edith. He was the oldest of the six children. He had a half-sister named Elizabeth.
