William was born about January 9th, 1655 in Minehead and his baptism took place on June 10th, 1656 in Exford, Somerset, Parish Church.1 2   William's father was William Huxtable and his mother was Mary Shapland.  He had two brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the four known children.
