Hugh was born in 1793 and his baptism took place on April 21st, 1793 in Exford, Somerset, Parish Church.1   Hugh's father was Hugh Greenslade and his mother was Joan Hooper.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Greenslade and Elizabeth Hooper; his maternal grandparents were Charles Hooper and Jane Hooper.  He had a brother and a sister, named Richard and Joan.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
