William Thorne

William was born about 1844 in Withypool, Somerset, England and his baptism took place on July 1st, 1845 in Withypool Parish Church.¹² William's father was John Thorne and his mother was Sarah Greenslade. His paternal grandparents were Richard Thorne and Elizabeth Parkin; his maternal grandfather was William Greenslade and his maternal grandmother is Mary. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Richard, John, Jacob, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jane, Charlotte, Eliza and Maria. He was the tenth oldest of the twelve children.
