John Thorne

John was born about 1827 in Exford, Somerset and his baptism took place on July 15th, 1827 in Exford, Somerset, Parish Church.¹ John's father was John Thorne and his mother was Sarah Greenslade. His paternal grandparents were Richard Thorne and Elizabeth Parkin; his maternal grandfather was William Greenslade and his maternal grandmother is Mary. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Richard, Jacob, William, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Jane, Charlotte, Eliza and Maria. He was the second oldest of the twelve children.
