Samuel was born about 1852 in Clayhanger, Somerset.1   Samuel's father was Thomas Poole and his mother was Sarah Poole.  His paternal grandparents are Samuel Poole and Jane. He had two brothers named William and James.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
