John was born on December 10th, 1837 in Rose Ash, Devon, England.1   John's father was William Pester and his mother was Ann Crispin. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Mathew, James, Elizabeth and Jane.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 29 on March 18th, 1867 in Chulmleigh, Devon, England.2
