John was born about October 1st, 1763 and his baptism took place on October 21st, 1763 in Elworthy Parish Church, Somerset, England.  John's father was James Poole and his mother was MARY Westarn.  His paternal grandfather was Hugh Poole and his paternal grandmother is Rachel; his maternal grandparents were Edward Western and Joan Larcombe. He had three brothers named James, William and HUGH.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
