William Edward was born in 1881. William Edward's father was Robert Lee Gerholdt and his mother was Anna Mary (or Mary Ann?) Hecklinger. His paternal grandparents were Johann Carl Michael (Charles Michael) Goerhold (Gerholdt) and Dorothea Albertina (Cynthia) Sanders. He had a brother and two sisters, named Charles Fredrick, Lillie Mae and Ellen Dorothea (Mary Ellen). He is the youngest of the four children.General Notes
