Clara's father was Domingo Riga and her mother was Raymunda Lopez Caparroz.  Her maternal grandparents were Antonio Lopez and Juana Caparroz.  She is the fifth of eleven children.  She had four brothers and six sisters, named Domingo, Angel, Eduardo, Jose, Rosa, Blanca, Clara, Dora, Maria and Susana.
