Luz was born on March 9th, 1928.  Luz's father was Juan Paredes Vargas and her mother was Ofelia Zilvetti Juarez.  Her paternal grandparents were Hurbano Paredes and Teodora Vargas; her maternal grandparents were David Zilveti Pinedo and Candelaria Juarez Guerra.  She is the oldest of eight children.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named Eduardo, Juan, Hugo, Ruth, Lia, Estela and Sonia.

Their relationship ended in a separation. They had two daughters named Norma and Teresa.
