Lia was born on April 23rd, 1933.  Lia's father was Juan Paredes Vargas and her mother was Ofelia Zilvetti Juarez.  Her paternal grandparents were Hurbano Paredes and Teodora Vargas; her maternal grandparents were David Zilveti Pinedo and Candelaria Juarez Guerra.  She is the fifth of eight children.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named Eduardo, Juan, Hugo, Luz, Ruth, Estela and Sonia.
