Juan was born on May 6th, 1930.  Juan's father was Juan Paredes Vargas and his mother was Ofelia Zilvetti Juarez.  His paternal grandparents were Hurbano Paredes and Teodora Vargas; his maternal grandparents were David Zilveti Pinedo and Candelaria Juarez Guerra.  He is the third of eight children.  He had two brothers and five sisters, named Eduardo, Hugo, Luz, Ruth, Lia, Estela and Sonia.
