Estela was born on January 20th, 1936.  Estela's father was Juan Paredes Vargas and her mother was Ofelia Zilvetti Juarez.  Her paternal grandparents were Hurbano Paredes and Teodora Vargas; her maternal grandparents were David Zilveti Pinedo and Candelaria Juarez Guerra.  She is the sixth of eight children.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named Eduardo, Juan, Hugo, Luz, Ruth, Lia and Sonia.
