Alan was born in 1878.  Alan's father was Samuel Draper and his mother was Emma Glass Turner.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Draper and Maria Asher.  He is the second of six children.  He has two brothers and three sisters, named Ernest, James, Daisy, Mary-Anne and Sarah.
