João was born on May 6th, 1908.  João's father is Sebastião Martins de Araújo Costa and his mother is Joana de Sousa Martins.  His paternal grandparents are Vetúria de Sousa Martins and Raimundo José de Araújo Costa; his maternal grandparents are Dario Pereira da Silva and Ana de Sousa Martins.  He was an only child.  He died due to a medical problem at the age of 77 on May 7th, 1985.
