• General Notes
  • He was in the Royal Artillery and spent most of his army time in Kent and Sussex and also Woolwich
    London, as there was a large garrison there.  A few months were spent in Ireland.  He was discharged
    from army 14th December 1801 at his request and looks as if he stayed there for some time before
    taking up residence in Deal possibly early 1810.
    
    
    Some speculation that he moved from Scotland and may have had an different spelling of his name?????
