George  was born in 1893.  George 's father was Charles Samuel Hawkins and his mother was Henrietta Hawkins (Martin).  His maternal grandparents were Henry Martin and Mary Ann Martin (Sawyer). He had five brothers and a sister, named Sydney, Frederick, Percival, Arthur, Bertram and Inez.
