Sarah was born in 1844 in Rotherhithe, Surrey, England.  Sarah's father was George Facer and her mother was Elizabeth Facer (Franklin). She had two brothers and a sister, named Benjamin, Willam and Elizabeth.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
