Leroy, known as Lee, was born on May 2nd, 1929.  Lee's father is Lawrence William Gakin and his mother was Petronella (Nellie) Marie Gakin Vanden Heuvel. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Lloyd, Harold G, Lester A, Oliver, Charles, Gladys Lucille and Hazel.  He was the youngest of the eight children.  He died  due to Parkinson's disease at the age of 73 on September 16th, 2002.  The funeral took place on September 17th, 2002 and was arranged by Holcomb-Henry-Boom Funeral Home.
