Ella was born in 1864.  Ella's father was William Allen Ward and her mother was Nancy Hughey.  Her maternal grandparents were William Hughey and Polly Lewis. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Theopholus, Levi, Jabez, Timothy, Parazolle, Jerusha, Catherine, Larizade and Emma.  She was the youngest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 71 in 1935.
