Berta was born on September 14th, 1104.  Berta's father was Eberhard of Bar and her mother was Brunhilde von Venis.  Her maternal grandparents were Ulrich von Venis and Douce von Chalns.  She had four brothers and three sisters, named Heinrich, Sigmund, Adolf, Karloman, Richwara, Alberade and Hildegard.  She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 27 on March 3rd, 1132.
