Kazimierz was born on September 11th, 1145.  Kazimierz's father was Detrich Halicz and his mother was Skolasztika Szentgyrgyi.  His paternal grandparents were Vanek Halicz and Judita Luxembourg; his maternal grandparents were Smuel Szentgyrgyi and Mlada Premyslid.  He had two brothers and a sister, named Rostislav, Kojata and Mila.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Otakar, Spytihnev, Vratislav, Lzr, Ondrej, Ales, Wojslawa, Joln, Jitka and Jana.  He died at the age of 50 on February 7th, 1196.
